A DAY ON KACHEMAK BAY
Start with a scenic forty-minute boat ride across Kachemak Bay on Mako's Water Taxi. Look for sea otters, harbor porpoise and maybe a whale on the trip to Kasitsna Bay. Then get ready for a guided kayak tour through the Herring Islands with the gang at Across the Bay Tent and Breakfast Adventure Company. No experience required. After enjoying a hearty lunch take a scenic ride on the Jakolof Road to Seldovia where you can wander the streets of this fishing village before boarding a plane with Smokey Bay Air for a flightseeing tour back to Homer.

CHINA POOT FLY/HIKE/BOAT TOUR
The quintessential Alaska adventure in just one day! Your trip starts with a float plane ride, departing from Beluga Lake right in town. Fly over the Homer Spit and Kachemak Bay, keep and eye out for black bear, mountain goats, glaciers and ice fields as you travel over Kachemak Bay Wilderness State Park. Your plane puts you down in China Poot Lake, where you start an easy two and a half-mile hike through Alaska's northern-most rain forest. Enjoy lush greenery; pick wild berries in August. Your water taxi pick up point is in beautiful Halibut Cove Lagoon. Cruise the tranquil waters and view the unique artists' community of Halibut Cove. Then onto the bay where we circle Gull Island keeping a lookout for sea otters and whales while we cruise back to the harbor. Set off in the morning, pack your own lunch, and be back in town for dinner. Trip specifics depend on the tides.

SELDOVIA WATER/LAND/AIR TRIP
Take our boat to the Jakolof Bay dock, where you will be met by a cab for the twelve-mile trip to the historic Alaska fishing community of Seldovia. Shop, lunch at one of the town's many restaurants, and fly back to Homer on Smoky Bay Air. From the airport, a cab will take you back out to your car on the Spit.

BAY WILDLIFE TOUR

Take a personalized tour of Kachemak Bay and we'll introduce you to its wildlife residents on the bay. We'll circle Gull Island, a protected marine bird rookery with a population of about 15,000 puffins, murres and kittiwakes. We may see eagles, sea otters or even a whale (or two) on a good day. We go the distance to accommodate nature watchers and photographers, but our first concern is to limit stress on the wildlife. Plan on bringing good binoculars and telescopic lenses.

TIDE POOLING
The perfect lazy day adventure. View wildlife and take a walk on the beach. Dig clams and have a clambake. Poke around tide pools or just lay in the sun. Mako will drop you at his favorite, secret beach site and pick you up when you're ready.
