Grace Ridge
Grace Ridge lies between Sadie Cove and Tutka Bay, a 9 mile long, true ridgeline hike across alpine tundra on top of the world, offering stunning views from about 3300 feet up. Way down below on one side is Sadie Cove: remote, quiet, mostly privately owned; it is Kachemak Bay’s own fjord. On the other side is Tutka Bay, shown here with the Herring Islands, MacDonald Spit, and Augustine volcano faint on the horizon. This hike is not for beginners. It goes between the South Grace Trailhead and Kayak Beach with a steep climb if you start at Kayak Beach and a very steep climb if you start at South Grace, which seems the preferred choice. Well worth the effort!
